INTENDED USE The Viral Transport Medium kits allows the collection and preservation of COVID-19, influenza virus, hand foot mouth virus, measles, mycoplasma, urea plasma, and chlamydia from the collection site to the testing laboratory for further research including classical cell culture methods, diagnostics testing, as well as molecular biology techniques.
PRINCIPLE The viral transport medium consists of phosphate buffer saline. Phenol red is used as a pH indicator. Antibiotic and Antifungal agents have been added to the medium to inhibit the proliferation of competing bacteria and yeasts. The medium is isotonic and lacks toxicity to the mammalian host cells.
